"Our shareholders - the management board of the Vaasan Group - in August approved the bakery's expansion project worth around 35 million litas," it quoted Vilniaus Duona CEO Rita Ramanauskienė.

Vilniaus Duona plans to close its old bakery in Tuskulėnai Street by the end of 2015 and move the production line to Aukštieji Paneriai, where it now has one production line. Plans call for installing three more lines next to the existing one, with construction work slated to begin next spring.

Bread made in Lithuania is now shipped to Estonia and Latvia, where the Vaasan Group has bakeries. Ramanauskienė said that the company is also interested in selling its products in Poland, as well as in Russia and to Lithuanian expatriate communities in Norway, Ireland, and the United States.
