"He (the Dalai Lama) said he sees many parallels between our nation and Tibetans," Adamkus told BNS on Thursday.

In his words, the Dalai Lama spoke about the Lithuanian nation's "unbreakable strife to be free and fight against the power that seemed impossible to beat."

"Nevertheless, this happened, and he thinks that the example will be a guiding light for them in the future," said Adamkus who served two tenures as Lithuania's president between 1998 and 2009.
