EU trade commissioner calls for calm in case of trade war with Russia

EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht has advised Ukraine to remain calm and turn to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in case of a "trade war" with Russia.

"Certainly, there are attempts to start such a 'trade war'. When there is such a risk, I think that it is necessary to remain calm and turn to the WTO," Ukrainian news website Segodnya.ua quoted De Gucht as saying.

"We will do it for Lithuania and will support you in such efforts," the commissioner told TV station Kanal 5.

"Still, it is necessary to maintain composure, because Russia is dramatizing, artificially dramatizing the situation," he added.
