Lithuania to have customs attaché in Moscow

Lithuania is appointing a customs attaché to Moscow after Russia imposed a ban on Lithuanian dairy imports.

"We are sending an attaché of the Customs Department for permanent work at the embassy in Moscow to maintain regular contacts so that, in case there are problems, both sides know whom to contact to solve these issues," Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius told the business daily Verslo Žinios.

He said that there was some hope that Lithuanian dairy exports to Russia could be resumed and that Russian inspectors might come to Lithuania by the end of this month.
