A fight in the endgame marred the match between Emilio Aguinaldo College and Mapua in NCAA Season 90 action Monday at The Arena in San Juan.
With the Generals ahead by nine points, 86-77, with just 28.5 seconds left, EAC guard John Tayongtong bumped hardly Mapua guard CJ Isit while dribbling the ball halfcourt.
Mapua’s Leo Gabo then confronted Tayongtong with an elbow shove in defense of his teammate Isit before being prevented by the referees.
But Tayongtong and Isit faced one another again, with the EAC guard punching the Mapua guard twice. A free-for-all brawl then ensued as players from both sides stormed the court exchanging blows to one another.
Jesse Saitanan of Mapua and Jozhua General of EAC were the only players who escaped sanction as officials handed the victory to EAC.
