Advertising authority says Post24 ad does not discriminate against Estonians

The Lithuanian Advertising Bureau, a self-regulatory institution, has decided that an ad of the Estonian-owned parcel terminal network Post24 was not insulting to or discriminating against the Estonian people.

The bureau's Arbitration Commission has found that the advertisement is humorous and that it does not seem to humiliate or undermine the nation, the company, which is owned by Eesti Post (Estonian Post), said in a press release.

The bureau investigated a complaint filed by a Lithuanian regarding the TV ad, called "Ice Age".

It featured two Lithuanians standing at a self-service parcel terminal and making jokes about Estonians being too slow to go to a post office and, therefore, using a faster parcel delivery service. The ad was created by the advertising agency Not Perfect.

Post24, which launched operations in Lithuania last June, says that it already has 31 self-service parcel terminals in the country and plans to increase that number to 35 by the end of the year. The company estimated earlier that it held a 5.4 percent share of the parcel market.
