The Lithuanian government backed the proposal for legal entities to have a virtual address along with a physical one, Justice Minister Remigijus Šimašius said.

"In addition to a physical address, legal entities will have an opportunity to have a virtual address – an electronic address for sending reports, which will be equivalent to registered mail," the minister told journalists after the government's meeting.

Šimašius said that amendments to the Civil Code would be proposed shortly to enable a legal entity to have no physical seat at all, only a virtual electronic address of registration.

"It is a rather important breakthrough, as it allows submitting reports and use main European Union (EU) and Russian languages, in addition to the Lithuanian language in typical founding documents. I believe it will give a sufficient impetus to founding of more companies in Lithuania and competition on the international arena," the justice minister said.
