A queue of buyers formed outside the central bank's cash offices as early as 7 AM on Wednesday.
The central bank sold the new 2-litas coins for 30 litas (EUR 8.7) apiece or 120 litas for a set of four coins.
Resellers on the same day offered to buy the coins from collectors at a price five times higher than that.
The mintage of the collector coins, featuring the colored emblems of the resort towns of Birštonas, Druskininkai, Neringa, and Palanga, is 10,000 pieces.
