The Lithuanian branch of Danske Bank, one of the biggest financial groups in Scandinavia and Western Europe, is likely to launch a new project in the area of mobile payments, the business daily Verslo Žinios reports.

"We are now dotting the i's and crossing the t's regarding the linking of our systems to mobile payments. While the West is still analyzing such solutions, we are already developing intensive and productive talks," the paper quoted Norbertas Žioba, head of business development at Danske Bank's Lithuanian branch.

According to Verslo Žinios, the bank is likely to introduce a joint project with the mobile payments developer Mokipay Europe.

Žioba did not confirm this information officially, but indicated that the bank was planning to launch some new products or services in Lithuania.
