Lithuania’s state-run petroleum product terminal operator Klaipėdos Nafta (Klaipėda Oil) has signed a new contract on the reloading of more than 4 million tons of petroleum products.

“Klaipėdos Nafta and Litasco, a Swiss-registered company that is part of Russia’s oil concern Lukoil and one of the strongest petroleum products traders in the region, signed a contract on 30 August on the reloading of dark petroleum products until the second half of 2014”, Klaipėdos Nafta reported through the NASDAQ OMX Vilnius Stock Exchange.

Under the contract Klaipėdos Nafta would reload approximately 4 million tons of dark petroleum products, the company said in a press release.

Indrė Milinienė, Klaipėdos Nafta spokeswoman, told BNS that Litasco would reload approximately 2 million tons per year, which would account for around 25 percent of the terminal’s annual capacity. The quantity of 4 million tons would be handled in about two years – from October 2012 until the middle of 2014, she said.

“We are now halfway in forming a package of our contracts for 2013 after the signing of this contract. Negotiations on other contracts are ongoing,” Milinienė said.

Under the contracts signed for 2012 in 2011, Klaipėdos Nafta also provides services to Russia’s Somitekno, Baltic Fuel Inc., a company of Singapore’s Chemoil, Switzerland’s Mercuria Energy Trading, and Russia’s Gazprom Neft.

Klaipėdos Nafta plans to reload around 8 million tons of petroleum products this year.
