The gas station located close to the Lithuanian border with Poland is the first Lithuanian outlet of the International Diesel Service (IDS) chain controlled by Kuwait Petroleum International, the portal menafm.com reports citing Kuwaiti news agency KUNA.
The gas station based in Marijampolė will trade in diesel fuel.
Lukas Vosylius, president of Lithuania’s Association of Oil Product Trade Enterprises, told BNS that he had known nothing about Kuwait Petroleum International’s plans for Lithuania.
“It is something new. It seems that the gas station of this retail chain will focus on commercial vehicles,” Vosylius said adding that, according to the information available to him, the gas station of this type had no rivals in Lithuania for the meantime.
According to media reports, Kuwait Petroleum, the oil-rich Gulf state’s national oil company, entered Lithuania’s market in April 2010. Market participants then said that Kuwait Petroleum Lietuva, a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum, could buy or invest in an existing gas chain in Lithuania.
