The biggest rise in foreign tourists flow was observed in Latvia (20.8 percent), while Lithuania received 20.3 percent more tourists than in 2010. Estonia ranked third with 15.6 percent.
The top five also includes Romania (12.4 percent) and Ireland (12.3 percent).
Far smaller increases in 2011 were reported by the Netherlands and the United Kingdom (3 percent each), while less tourists came to Montenegro (-0.1 percent compared to 2010), the State Tourism Department said.
Lithuania also ranked second among all rated countries in terms of accommodation of foreign tourists last year. Lithuania's 19.5 percent rise, as compared to 2010, put it behind Bulgaria (19.9 percent) but ahead of Latvia (17.7 percent), Estonia (17.2 percent), and Sweden (14.7 percent).
The European Travel Commission is an umbrella association of 33 European national tourism organizations.
