Sixty-two percent of Lithuanian households can subscribe to superfast broadband services delivering at least 30 megabits per second (Mbps) of bandwidth, according to the study carried out for the European Commission by Point Topic.

"Not only is Lithuania well ahead of the European average for superfast broadband, but at 59 percent it has the second-highest coverage of FTTP (fiber-to-the-premises) of all the countries studied, just behind Latvia," the EU's executive body said in a press release.

The study shows that 88 percent of Lithuanian households can subscribe to basic broadband services, delivering at least 144 kilobits per second (kbps), if they want to, it said.

The study covers all 27 EU member states as well as Norway and Iceland. Ninety-six percent of people in the 29 countries can get basic broadband and over 50 percent can get superfast broadband.
