Lithuania's property maintenance and administration services group City Service is involved in a court dispute with private individuals in Russia over higher heating bills.

In 2010, City Service's companies in St. Petersburg issued supplementary bills, worth 37.3 million rubles (EUR 963,000) in total, for heat supplied to private customers due to "high heat consumption during the exceptionally cold heating season," the group said in its 2011 annual report.

Some of the customers have filed lawsuits, worth 398,000 rubles in total, to contest the supplementary bills, it said.

City Service's subsidiaries in the region of St. Petersburg and in Stavropol "were dealing with some uncertainties related to the tax treatment of certain transactions" due to "a lack of taxation practices and clear legislative requirements" in Russia, the company said.

However, it added that its management thinks that the risk of having to pay additional taxes is not high.

The Vilnius-based company, which is controlled by Icor, is listed on the blue-chip Main List of the NASDAQ OMX Vilnius stock exchange.
