Lithuania’s M&A market weakens in 2012

The merger and acquisition market in Lithuania and other Baltic countries weakened last year amid foreign investors’ exit from the region, the Verslo Žinios business daily reports, citing data provided by the law firm Sorainen and the Mergermarket.

A total of 48 merger and acquisition transactions were announced in Lithuania and other Baltic countries in 2012, down by 16 percent, or 9 transactions, from 57 deals in 2011.

The number of M&A transactions announced in Lithuania last year went down to 15, from 27 in 2011. The number of such deals announced in Estonia increased to 26, from 18 in 2011, and in Latvia, the number of deals announced declined to 10, from 14 in the previous year.
