Lithuania expects Russia's gas giant Gazprom to reduce its gas prices for the country at least "to the market level", Energy Minister Jaroslav Neverovič has said on Tuesday.

"I can assure you that the government is taking every effort for this to happen (gas prices to be cut). It takes two to tango. In this case, we are waiting for rational decisions from Gazprom on a gas price cut at least to the market level, the level in our neighboring countries," he said after meeting with Seimas Speaker Loreta Graužinienė.

"We are open to this happening as soon as possible. The Lithuanian government would like the prices to go down as soon as possible," the minister added.
