Julius Pranevičius, head of the ministry's European Union Council Presidency Department, says the website is the result of efforts to combine attractive design and functionality and is based on the experience of previous presidencies.

"We hope that journalists, civil servants, and everyone who is interested in the presidency will find the latest, up-to-date and well-presented information on all issues they need," the diplomat said.

Lithuania is taking over the rotating six-month EU presidency from Ireland on July 1.

All information about the Lithuanian presidency will be available on its official website, including the agenda, the calendar of meetings and events in Lithuania and Brussels, relevant publications, articles and interviews.

The website will also provide live streaming from top meetings. Video archives will contain video clips on the work of the EU Council, the legislation process in the European Union and will offer a tour of venues where important meetings will be held.

Under the "Presidency and EU" tab, one will be able to find information on the agenda and priorities of the Lithuanian EU presidency, get acquainted with the presidency logo and its meaning, find information on the presidency budget and sponsors as well as key cultural projects that will introduce Lithuania to Europe during the upcoming six months of the Lithuanian EU presidency.

Under the tab "Lithuania", visitors will be able to find facts about Lithuania's history, culture, sports, science, economy, tourism, presented by means of photos and other visuals, as well as advice on what is worth seeing for guests on short trips to Lithuania.

Members of the media will find information on the working hours of press centers, accreditation as well as services rendered by the official broadcaster and photographer.

Information is available in Lithuanian, English, German, and French.
