Lithuania sought to encourage Turkey-EU dialogue, but becomes Ankara’s hostage in NATO – Turkey is blocking the Alliance’s defence plans for the Baltic States and Poland. A political scientist explained to 15min that this step by Ankara is a result of changes in the situation of Turkey and the region. According to her, due to Turkey’s close association with Russia, Lithuania should view this country with more criticism.

“Just another Russian dream becoming reality after approving Turkey’s incursion into YPG-held Syria,” German defence analyst Julian Roepcke tweeted after Reuters reported that Turkey is blocking NATO defence plans.
