Archeologists found remains of four resistance fighters who were killed in a battle with Soviet troops on 20 May 1952.

The bunker where partisans secretly lived was examined based on archived information.

The remains were handed over to the State Forensic Medicine Service for further tests. Specialists are expected to provide conclusions on circumstances of their death.

The remains are expected to be buried in a local cemetery in autumn.

Over 21,000 participants of resistance, their supporters and family were killed in post-war years after the Soviet Union occupied Lithuania. Armed resistance in Lithuania was one of the greatest among all occupied countries.
