Aboltina and Ergma were invited by Lithuania's Seimas Speaker Irena Degutienė, currently on a visit to Warsaw, on Thursday.
"The speakers of the Latvian and Estonian parliaments gladly accepted the invitation," Degutienė's spokesman Juozas Ruzgys told BNS.
Lithuania, in capacity of the Baltic Assembly chairmanship, is holding a parliamentary seminar on 10-11 May, focusing on two topics, namely, “A Baltic Voice in the European Union: Focus on the Future” and “The Power of Cooperation: Bringing Regional Networking to a New Level.”
During the event, parliamentarians from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia will concentrate on the evaluation of common Baltic efforts towards the European Union, active involvement of the Baltic States in the work of EU institutions and in the development of EU policies, and common efforts to represent interests of the Baltic States: formats, channels, sectors, and EU presidencies.
The Baltic Assembly is a cooperation body for Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian parliaments, founded by joint decision of the Baltic parliaments in Vilnius on 1 December 1990. The organization exists to reinforce the Baltic independence with the goal of closer international cooperation in the Baltic region and efficient exchange of information.
