Kubilius said the conservatives would not join a coalition with the Labour Party.
"Based on what we know, the results are not bad for us. We are one of the leading parties in the Seimas. But at the same time I have to say that we can already see that the new Seimas will be rather fragmented. It means that if we want to form a responsible coalition capable of acting responsibly, any initiating party will have to act very responsibly. I hope the president will play a very important role in such a situation," Kubilius said.
He once again reiterated that his party would not work in a coalition with the Labour Party.
"We have no plans to be in dirty, non-transparent coalitions as we see the next four years as very important and with responsible decision needed, and a coalition we would join should be formed responsibly. (…) I see no chances of implementing responsible policies in a coalition with the Labour Party," Kubilius said.
Preliminary results suggest that the Social Democrats are likely to be the biggest party in the new 141-seat Seimas with 38 seats, followed by the conservative Homeland Union with 33 mandates, and the Labour Party with 30.
