Four ministers and prominent political strategists among participants in annual Snow Meeting in Lithuania

Slovakia's deputy prime minister, foreign ministers of Sweden, Romania and Latvia and the US ambassador to NATO should be among participants of the traditional meeting of international and security policy experts in Trakai this year, Lithuanian diplomats have confirmed on Wednesday.

Titled the Snow Meeting, the event on 10-11 January should focus on the situation in Europe and its role on the global arena, the relations with Russia and the European Union's (EU) Eastern Partnership, officials of the Foreign Ministry said.

The participants of the meeting should be greeted by Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, with discussions involving foreign and defense ministers, Linas Linkevičius and Juozas Olekas, and former prime minister Andrius Kubilius who is now the opposition leader.

The list of participants includes Swedish, Romanian and Latvian foreign ministers Carl Bildt, Titus Corlatean, Edgars Rinkevics, Slovak deputy prime minister and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak.

The United States Ambassador to NATO Ivo Daalder is also expected to come to Trakai, along with diplomats, political experts and reviewers from Germany, Denmark, France, Great Britain, and Hungary.

The Snow Meeting is an informal gathering held behind closed doors.
