The long and lanky shooting guard for the Huskies attended Norcross High School in Georgia, and did not become a starter until his senior year. He received a lot of hype after a spectacular senior year and eventually received a scholarship offer from Jim Calhoun at Connecticut. Calhoun's familiarity with the name "Lamb" runs deeper than his star Husky Guard. Jeremy's father, Rolando Lamb, played at VCU and upset Jim Calhoun's Northeastern Huskies with a last-second turnaround jumper in the first round of the 1984 NCAA Tournament.
Jeremy Lamb possesses outstanding length for a guard, with an incredible wingspan of 6'11". According to Coach Calhoun, Lamb "couldn't guard a chair" prior to his freshman season. However, using his long arms and uncanny anticipation, he became a frustrating force on defense as he picked up several breakaway steals. He is a silky smooth scorer that glides along the floor. Jim Calhoun compares to him to former UConn star Richard Hamilton.
With top offensive option Kemba Walker likely headed to the NBA, Lamb figures to be UConn's leading scorer in the 2011-2012 season. A void is left on the team leadership-wise after Walker's departure, but Lamb's experience with the USA U-19 team as the top scoring option and his clutch play during UConn's run through the Big East and NCAA tournaments suggests he should be able to handle the onus of being the Huskies' floor leader. Due to his outstanding length, explosive athleticism, excellent shooting stroke, defensive prowess, improved ball-handling and high basketball IQ, Jeremy Lamb was picked 12th by the Houston Rockets in 2012 NBA Draft.
