„Captain Joe“ apie plojimą lėktuvui nusileidus

This question is a classic, "can you hear the passengers applause after a landing". This question always makes me smile, cause I answer with a question: "Do you applaued the lady at the supermarket after she has scanned all your groceries"? Most probably not, that would look very wired.  But the question is can we hear the applause?  The cockpit door, separating the cockpit from the cabin is up to 2 inches thick, bulletproof and very strong soundbarrier.   Now let´s imagine a full Airbus A321 with approximately 210 happy holiday passengers on board, are just about to land at Fuerteventura. The plane gets shaken back and forth, due to the crosswinds at the canary islands, and the pilot manages a very soft landing. You´re happy, the pilot is happy and you start to applause. The "problem" is, depending on wether the pilot uses full reverse thrust to decelerate the plane on the runway, it gets fairly loud within the cabin and the cockpit and it´s very hard to identify your cheers. I´ve experienced it a couple of times, that my captain said to me, just after touchdown, "Ahhh a landing with applause, did you hear it?". I was in "safe landing mode", so you blend out a few things cause your fully concentrated on flying the plane.  So the answer is "Yes we can hear your applause and we are grateful for it!", it just depends on how softly we land the airplane, the amount of cheering passengers and if we use full reverse on landing, (depending on runway length etc. blog will follow).  Every pilot is thankful for your applause, no doubt about it. It is a huge compliment to us knowing that you are happy and enjoyed the flight. There is no better feeling as to knowing that we have brought you safely to your home or destination.  Therefore thanks for watching and don´t forget to appreciate the work of the lady at the supermarket, she´s doing her job as good as we do ours, but give her a smile instead of an applause !  Farewell your Captain Joe Every flight comes with huge responsibility for the pilots and their crew. So be thankful for the crew that they got you to your destination as quickly and safely as possible. Keep in mind, flying is privilege and luxury.
