A Liverpool supporter required lengthy medical treatment after a gang of Roma supporters launched an unprovoked attack ahead of the two sides' Champions League meeting at Anfield on Tuesday night. A group of around 35 to 40 supporters of the Italian side, many brandishing belts and at least one holding a hammer, knocked one Liverpool fan to the floor and needing an ambulance . The trouble started, as reported by the BBC, when the gang arrived at Anfield via the nearby Venmore Street. They then ambushed their English counterparts just outside the Kop before kick-off.
