An Estonian Interior Ministry serviceman, Eston Kohver, was detained at the Russia border in Pskov Region on Friday after he was found carrying a loaded gun, covert recording equipment and €5000 ($6457) in cash. However, Estonian officials claim that the officer was abducted while on their own territory.
Estonian law enforcement officials have launched a criminal case into the detainment of the serviceman, who is currently being kept in Moscow. A Russian investigation is also under way in an attempt to learn what the Estonian national was doing in Pskov Region.
Kohver has worked for the Tartu Estonian Security Police since 1991.
