Astronomers used the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in Chile to image the millimetre-wavelength light emitted by the Sun’s chromosphere, revealing otherwise invisible details, including details of a giant sunspot nearly twice the diameter of the Earth.
