Relief workers and local people were clearing the streets of mud and debris
in the Liguria region on Wednesday after it was hit by high rainfall and
other bad weather, with some towns being cut off from access to clean
drinking water and electricity. Two people died on Tuesday night after
being caught in a landslide set off by the storm.
Railway lines and roads have been affected, causing disruption to transport
services. Emergency services are on alert, with more heavy rain is
predicted for Saturday.
