They are taking online threats seriously since the Norway shootings in July. A Mexican chemistry student suspected of planning an attack on protesters marching against Pope Benedict's Madrid visit for World Youth Week has been arrested, Spanish police said on Wednesday. Jose Albano Perez Bautista, 24, was detained on Tuesday, the Mexican Embassy press office said. Perez Bautista, originally from Puebla, Mexico, was studying and working at the Centre for Organic Chemistry. Local media reported he lived in the upmarket Velazquez Street and was working as a volunteer for World Youth Week. Inmaculada, also a volunteer, said the student must have been crazy to plan such an attack. [Inmaculada Trejo, World Youth Meeting Volunteer]: "He's a crazy one, like others, I mean he was doing a course. There are lots of crazy people, he can be one." Another volunteer, Alba, said she knew nothing of the arrest. [Alba, World Youth Meeting Volunteer]: "I had no idea. No, we didn't know anything about it." The Mexican Embassy said Perez Bautista was being held at the Police Center of Canillas in Madrid. His hearing will be held at the Audiencia Nacional court.
