Hold Me - Official Music Video

'Hold Me' is a song I wrote about hook-up culture, and how unfulfilled it left me. Throughout the video, I wear the facades of the different pressures on my sexuality; the beautiful dark bride, constrained by my Catholic upbringing, the glamorous pop star, sold for mass consumption, and the divine feminine, struggling to untangle my own power from the mechanisms of the patriarchy. But the girl in the bathtub is who I actually was; the cool girl, not asking for too much, dating man after man, never fulfilled, while they lounged comfortably. One sided intimacy. If you relate to this song, I feel you. There is so much pressure to play by the rules of a system that wasn’t created for our benefit. But I will say, in the 5 years since I wrote this song, my sense of self has solidified, and I am no longer the cool girl. I am deeply uncool, asking for a lot because I give a lot. And while that weeds out of a lot of wrong people, it will hopefully leave room for the right person. And let me tell you ladies, the proverbial bathtub is a lot more comfortable without those big men taking up so much space! Directed by Josh Berger and Ra Dreyfus
