Cameron Diaz sets out to answer the age old question about the devil you know being better than the devil you don't in The Box.
When the family of a gravely ill boy is offered a large sum of money--more than enough to cure their ailing son--they're ready to jump at the chance. But when they find out what they'll have to do to get that money, it's not as easy as they thought. To get that money, all they'll have to do is press a button. When they do, they'll promptly receive their fortune, but they'll also kill one person, somewhere, at random. When the boy's mother can no longer stand it, she presses the button and hears a gunshot ring out. Wracked with guilt, she tries desperately to find out who she may have just killed.
