Part of Paris exhibition about Napoleon dedicated to Lithuania

A part of an exhibition about Napoleon, recently opened in Paris, is dedicated to Lithuania the 19 th century French ruler crossed on his way to his unsuccessful invasion of Russian in 1812.

According to Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lithuanian Ambassador to France Jolanta Balciuniene attended the opening of exhibition Napoleon and Europe on Tuesday. The exhibition provides „a unique opportunity for French people and foreigners to get acquainted with the Napoleonic army's march through Lithuania,“ the ministry said.

„A part of the exhibition, exceptionally dedicated to Lithuania, was presented during the event. It features results of excavations by historians and archeologists from France and the Lithuanian National Museum of burial cites of Napoleonic troops in Vilnius,“ the ministry said in a statement.

The exhibition was opened at l'Hotel national des Invalides where Napoleon is buried.

Around 2,000 of Napoleonic troops are buried at Antakalnis Cemetery in Vilnius.
