"There are no changes so far. Truckers have told us that the procedure of the unloading of the entire cargo is still frequently applied. Last week, we met with the (Russian) Federal Customs Service's representative to the Baltic countries, but he could not say when the checks might be over," Linava President Algimantas Kondrusevičius told BNS.
Deputy Foreign Minister Rolandas Kriščiūnas told BNS that even though the situation in Russia had not changed, efforts were being made to obtain official answers from the neighboring country's authorities.
"To our knowledge, these issues are being raised and (the Russians) are reminded that we are waiting for official answers. European officials are raising this issue. But first of all, we need to receive official responses to be able to decide about the situation," he told BNS.
Three weeks ago, Russia imposed tightened checks on trucks from Lithuania, which involve unloading of all cargo. This procedure is not applied to perishable products.
