The number of new users was expected to grow further, Lesto said adding that it had received 37,000 new applications so far this year, up 1.5 times from the same period last year.

“The activity of new electricity users is particularly strong and is mostly driven by activity in the construction sector, the development of services sector and growth in electricity demand triggered by positive changes in domestic economy,” Mindaugas Skyrius, director of grid development department at Lesto, said in a press release.

Lesto earlier said that its investments in the connection of new user facilities soared by 46 percent, year-on-year, to 83 million litas (EUR 24m), in the first half of this year.
