Lithuania has officially voiced its determination to boost economic and trade relations with Kurdistan and encourage its companies to launch operations in the region, Kurdistan's news agency AKNews has reported.

The Kurdistan Commerce and Industry Chambers and its Lithuanian counterpart will sign a memorandum of understanding. As part of the agreement, a number of Lithuanian businesspeople and investors are expected to enter Kurdistan's agricultural, aviation, medicine and animal products sectors in the near future, the agency said.

It quoted Dara Jalil Khayyat, the head of the Kurdistan chambers, as saying that a meeting between his office and a 25-member delegation from Lithuania had taken place at the start of the week.
