The sector's debt to foreign financial institutions amounted to 30.264 billion litas, debt to the domestic financial sector was 6.458 billion litas, debt to international organizations - 4.76 billion litas, debt to other domestic creditors (households and non-profit institutions) - 1.06 million litas, and debt to the non-financial sector was 669.8 million litas.
Total long-term debt amounted to 41.967 billion litas, or 97.1 percent of total debt, and short-term debt was 1.244 billion litas, or 2.9 percent.
As a result of cross-currency swaps, the actual debt of the central government at the end of March was 422.2 million litas lower, 42.789 billion litas, the ministry said.
The borrowed funds are being used to finance public finance deficit and for investments, as well as to balance cash flows. Nearly 70 percent of all public finances go to three areas - social protection, education, and healthcare.

Lithuanian central government's debt stands at 39.1 percent of GDP
The Lithuanian central government's debt stood at 43.211 billion litas (EUR 12.5 b) in late March, accounting for 39.1 percent of this year's projected GDP of 110.526 billion litas, the Finance Ministry said on Monday.
