The increase followed two years of decline, the Verslo Žinios business daily reported on Monday.

“The growth of online ad market is related to the development of technologies and increase in the number of Internet users, untapped possibilities,” TNS LT CEO, Gytis Juodpušis, said adding that young people and city dwellers were the most active Internet users. However, the percentages of older Internet users and users in rural areas increased as well last year.

In 2011, online ad revenues rose by 12 percent, year-on-year, to 28 million litas (EUR 8.11 mln), which accounted for 8.2 percent of total ad revenue in Lithuania.

Last year spending in the Lithuanian media rose by 5 percent from 2010, to 340.7 million litas.
