So far vehicles entering the territory of the Curonian Spit National Park, administered by Neringa Municipality, have had to pay lower fees in winter, fall, and spring than in summer. Car owners have been charged LTL 20 (around EUR 5.8) for entering the area and half that price during the rest of the year. The local authorities decided on Thursday to apply summer rates throughout the year.
"The 10 litas fee is too small, and the whole infrastructure wears away. There's a lack of funds for infrastructure maintenance," Andrius Bagdonas, a local councilor, told BNS.
Heavier vehicles will be subjected to higher fees.
