30,000 freshmen to start studies at Lithuanian universities in September

Almost 30,000 young people in Lithuania will become freshmen this fall, university enrolment figures have revealed.

The Association of Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions for General Application (LAMABPO) announced on Tuesday that 29,923 people have signed contracts with the country's universities. 17,052 people will study at universities and 12,871 will receive higher education at colleges.

The state will fund studies of 15,780 freshmen, and 14,025 people will have to pay for their studies.
