Lithuanian film Vanishing Waves named best science fiction feature at US festival

Lithuanian film Vanishing Waves by Kristina Buožytė has been named the best fantastic feature at international film festival Fantastic Fest in the United States.

Buožytė was also awarded as the best director, and Jurga Jutaitė was named the best actress, the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture informs.

Fantastic Fest is an annual film festival in Austin, Texas. The festival focuses on genre films such as horror, science fiction, fantasy, action, Asian, and cult.

Vanishing Waves has also received the special prize of the East of the West program at international film Karlovy Vary (the Czech Republic), the special prize of film festival Neutchatel (Switzerland), the special prize by film critics at Palic film festival (Serbia) as well as the Emeric Pressburger prize at Miscolci (Hungary) international festival of young filmmakers.
