Achemos Grupė appoints Arūnas Laurinaitis as president

Arūnas Laurinaitis, long-term vice-president of Achemos Grupė (Achema Group), has been appointed president of one of Lithuania’s largest business conglomerates controlled by the family of the late Bronislovas Lubys.

The independent international board of Achemos Grupė, which held its first meeting on Thursday, elected Flemming Lindeloev, former president of Denmark’s Carlsberg Group who also sat on or chaired the boards of various international companies, as its chairman, the group said in a press release.

“Last year was particularly successful for the concern as its strengthened its positions in Lithuania’s economy and created 3.9 percent of the country’s GDP. I am glad that the shareholders and the board welcomed the works already done and gave a confidence mandate to continue work and pursue even better results,” the press release quoted Laurinaitis as saying.

Antanas Zabulis, president of mobile operator Omnitel, was appointed deputy chairman. Also sitting on the board are Jonas Sirvydis, former CEO of fertilizer company Achema, and Kasparas Jurgelionis, CEO for Eastern Europe at Ermgassen & Co.

The board was elected for a four-year term and authorized to represent the interests of all shareholders and increase the value of the company.

Achemos Grupė posted 207 million litas (EUR 60 mln) in pretax earnings on the revenues of 4.07 billion litas last year. The concern is active in manufacturing, trade, stevedoring and logistics, energy, media, other sectors.
