"The average wage decreased sharply in Lithuania in 2009 and remained relatively stable throughout 2010 and 2011. We expect only minor increases in wage rates in Lithuania in 2012 due to slower economic growth and high levels of uncertainty that hinders output expansion," he said in a comment.
Last November, DNB forecast that the average pay in the country would rise by 4 percent in 2012 and 2013.
The average monthly gross pay in Lithuania, excluding sole proprietorships, rose by 2.8 percent in the fourth quarter of last year from the third quarter to 2,175 litas (EUR 630.43) and the average net monthly salary was up by 2.6 percent to 1,688.8 litas. Real wages increased by a quarterly 2.1 percent, the country's statistics office said on Thursday.
