The average customs duty burden for Lithuania’s exporters will decline to 7.8 percent, from 10 percent. For example, the exporters of used cars will have to pay a 12.5 percent customs duty instead of 15 percent, the Verslo Žinios business daily reports.

“We think that Russia is working on a market defense strategy but no actual measures have been taken so far,” Rasa Adomaitienė, director of the External Economic Relations Department at the Foreign Ministry, told the daily.

One of the ways, which Russia might use for protecting its market, could entail the introduction of extra charges. For example, it plans to slap disposal taxes on the imports of used cars.
