The haulers hope that the rates will go up before the holiday season yet fear that the queues at borders, in particular at Lithuania’s border with Belarus, will grow even longer and will continue to disrupt their operations.
Antanas Gricius, owner of freight haulage company A.Griciaus Autotransporto Įmonė, told the daily that the freight haulage rates applied during the crisis had been higher.
“Some haulers would agree to ship for just 2,500 euros from the West, the situation is very complicated. The first half of the year was quite good, we would convey cargoes at the rates of 3,400-3,500 euros,” Gricius said.
