Television market leaders, Tele-3 and LNK, paid largest sums in taxes, 12.3 million litas and 6.9 million litas, respectively, according to the data from the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI). Among press companies, the biggest taxpayer, worth 5.4 million litas, was Žurnalų Leidybos Grupė (Mazagine Publishing Group).
The ranking of media companies based on the ratio between the revenues received and taxes paid is led by Delfi (22.2 percent), Žurnalų Leidybos Grupė (21.4 percent) and Verslo Žinios (19.2 percent).
Internet portal Delfi, Ekspress Leidyba are part of Estonia’s media company Ekspress Grupp. Žurnalų Leidybos Grupė is controlled by the Norwegian media concern Schibsted. Verslo Žinios is 73-percent owned by Sweden’s Bonnier Business Press.
Respublikos Leidiniai ranks last among the largest taxpayers in the media sector with an 8.5-percent ratio between the revenues and taxes paid.
