Germany’s PPS Pipeline Systems offered to build gas pipeline for Lithuania’s LNG terminal for 55.7 million euros

Germany’s pipeline design and construction concern PPS Pipeline Systems bid 192.182 million litas (EUR 55.7m) in a tender to build gas pipeline systems for a planned liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Klaipėda, 25.2 million litas more than the winning bidder, a consortium of two Lithuanian companies.

The bid placed by the German concern was unveiled in the tender report published by Klaipėdos Nafta (Klaipeda Oil) in the central public procurement portal.

The winning consortium of Kauno Dujotiekio Statyba (Kaunas Pipeline Construction) and Šiaulių Dujotiekio Statyba (Šiauliai Pipeline Construction) bid 166.979 million litas in the tender issued by Klaipėdos Nafta.

Both bids exceeded the preliminary value of works earlier specified by Klaipėdos Nafta (around LTL 150m).

The shareholders of Klaipėdos Nafta will decide on 25 January whether to conclude a contract with the consortium.

The pipeline system is one of the key components of the LNG terminal project’s infrastructure.

Lithuania expects to build the terminal in Klaipėda by the end of 2014 to obtain a cheaper alternative to Gazprom-supplied Russian gas.
