"We did a good job in December. If it hadn't been for the queues at the border, it would have been even better, because the rates increased. December was a very good month. Freight rates from Germany reached up to 4,000 euros, compared with 2,800-3,000 euros in the summer and October," said Antanas Gricius, owner of a haulage company.
Meanwhile, Artūras Grigaliūnas, the CEO of the transport services provider Refta, said that prices did not increase during the holiday season and the company did not make any additional profit in December.
"There were no Christmas prices at all. Freight rates for refrigerated shipments did not get moving until the last couple weeks," he said.
