INPP and Taylor Wessing signed a contract in early July on additional consulting services in evaluating the implementation of decommissioning projects, the state bulletin Valstybės Žinios announced.
The lawyers are helping the plant to work with the Russian-owned German company Nukem, the general contractor in two major projects that are running years behind schedule.
Daiva Rimašauskaitė, INPP spokeswoman, told BNS earlier that until then the plant had signed 20 million litas worth of contracts with Taylor Wessing, but had actually spent less on their services.
Last year, the British law firm conducted an evaluation of INPP's contracts with Nukem, concluded under English law, and is being hired to defend the plant's interests, if needed.
Nukem is carrying out two major decommissioning projects at the plant: a 123- million-euro solid radioactive waste storage facility complex and a spent fuel storage facility, initially estimated to cost 193 million euros. The projects are running some three to four years behind schedule.
