In view of potential merger, Kaunas Airport operates without director

The authorities are not searching for a new head to run Kaunas International Airport, which has not had a permanent director since early spring, since they expect parliament (Seimas) to approve a merger of the airports of Vilnius, Kaunas, and Palanga in fall, the Kauno Diena daily reports citing Transport Deputy Minister Arijandas Šliupas.

Jonas Gurskas, deputy director of Kaunas Airport, has been working as the acting director of the airport since July.

Meanwhile Šliupas said that the authorities were not entrusting any particular strategic tasks to the current directors of the three airports now and would not set any such tasks in future if the airports were to be managed by a single administration.
