The Japanese mentioned this during Wednesday's visit to Klaipėda, where they were informed about possibilities for transporting goods via Lithuania and about the port's prospects.
Aloyzas Kuzmarskis, president of the Lithuanian Stevedoring Companies' Association, said that the Japanese interest in Klaipėda port demonstrated the potential of Lithuania as a marine and industrial nation.
"This is recognition of our cargo-handling companies' competitive advantages over other Baltic Sea ports," he said.
The Japanese business delegation has been visiting Lithuania since Tuesday.
